LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chief, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that an independent and transparent investigation by the JIT necessitated the resignation
of the Prime Minister from his office.
Talking to the media after addressing the office bearers
of the JI Youth from Khyber Pakht
oonkhawa at Mansoora, he said if the Prime Minist
er did not step down, he could influence the institutions.
Sirajul Haq said that Allah had provided an opportunity to Nawaz Sharif to record his name in the history but “the tragedy with our rulers was that they would never quit unless the masses came on roads and streets against them”
He demanded that the JIT proceedings be held in the open so that the nation could watch. He said that closed door investigations would give rise to doubts.
Sirajul Haq however added that the entire responsibility of weeding out corruption could not be left to the courts and the masses should also rise and they should hold accountability
of the corrupt through their vote and demolish the idols of conceit and pride.
He reiterated that an operation was necessary against the financial terrorists sitting in the corridors of power. He said these people had burdened each and every Pakistani with huge debt because
of the IMF and World Bank loans. He said the JI wo
uld go to any extent to recover the ill gotten from the corrupt rulers and their henchmen.
Sirajul Haq termed the attack at Chaman border a blunder of Kabul regime and said that the sooner Afghan President Ashraf Ghani offered an apology for that, the better it would be. He said that Afghanistan and Pakistan required each other’s support and they must make joint efforts for peace and progress.
He however added that the Chaman attack also proved the failure of Pakistan’s foreign ministry. It was surprising, he said, that that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could not find a suitable person as Foreign Minister. The Prime Minister should explain to the nation why there was no Foreign Minister
of this nation of two hundred million, he said. It seemed the Prime Minist
er did not trust anybody except himself, he ad
ded.
Sirajul Haq said that fresh elections sans electoral reforms would be a joke as the coterie
of the corrupt always managed to reach the assemblies. He said at every election, the general public hoped for change of faces but they were disappointed as bigger thieves managed to return to the assemblies.
He said he was striving to shake the status quo so that instead
of the feudal lords, vaderas, capitalists, the farmers and workers could return to the assemblies.
Meanwhile Ameer JI Pakistan Senator Sirajul Haq has greeted former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Hanya on his election as the new chief
of the Palestinian liberation movement HAMAS.
In a message on Saturday, the JIP chief said the election of Ismail Hanya was an indication of true democratic spirit and consultative process in the Islamic movements.
Expressing good wishes for the HAMAS chief, Sirajul Haq said that HAMAS was the true representative
of the Palestinians and the election of Ismail Hanya reflected the full trust
of the Palestinians in him. He prayed that the new leader may come up to the expectations
of the Palestinian people.
