LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday suspended the membership of 261 lawmakers for not submitting the details of their assets and liabilities under sub-section 42A of the Representation of People Act (RoPA) by September 30.
The notification ceased the functioning of the suspended members of the National A
ssembly, Senate,
and provincial a
ssemblies until they submit their financial statements.
The notification has suspended the seven senators, 71 MNAs, 84 Punjab A
ssembly MPAs,
50 Sindh A
ssembly MPAs, 38 Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MPAs, and 11 Balochistan MPAs.
The l
ist of suspended legislatures also includes the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ (PML-N) Captain (retd) Safdar, Talal Chaudhry and Abid Sher Ali.
