ISLAMABAD: The first Women Entrepreneurship Conference (WECON)
was held on Saturday.
The event was attended by entrepreneurs, policy-makers, aspiring entrepreneurs and students.
OPEN President Ayesha Hamid commenced the session with her key note, e
mphasizing on the need
to become enablers of change. She de
clared that presently Pakistan was a happening place and has a lot of opportunities; there is an increase in awareness about entrepreneurship through various seminars and conferences, social media and other networking opportunities. For any country to develop and experience economic growth, it is vital to take
everyone onboard.
The welcome address was given by Dr. Arshad Ali, executive director Higher Education Commission (HEC). Talking about women’s participation in economic development, he reiterated that in order to foster women entrepreneurship, there is a great need for girls to go into universities.
