NAUNDERO: Family and relatives of three individuals, allegedly killed by PPP candidates Sardar Khan Chandio and Burhan Khan Chandio, on Friday staged a protest outside Bhutto house in Naundero seeking arrest of the accused and withdrawal of tickets awarded to them.
The protesters, led by Raees Hazoor Ahmed Marfani, Bago Khan Dostani, Jalaluddin Gaibani, Ali Raza Choliyani, Tumandar Khan Muhammad Mirwani, Raban Khan Marfani, Pervaiz Chandio, Mehran Chandio and others, gathered from Qambar, Warah and Mehar talukas.
During the protest, Sardar Khan Chandio arrived at the gate. Finding him in front of them, the protesters started chanting slogans against him which forced the PPP leader to enter the Bhutto house via an alternate entrance.
The protesters followed him but police waylaid them and did not allow them to move forward. They chanted slogans “save party of martyrs, don’t give party tickets to killers. Sardar Chandio and Burhan Chandio are killers and people don’t want Sardari and Nawabi Nizam”.
They were holding large banners in their hands. They said that killers have come here and they are sitting in air-conditioned rooms inside the house but the poor voters are protesting in sizzling heat outside the house demanding justice and nobody is willing to come out and listen to our grievances.
One of the protesters took off his clothes and started beating his chest against the highhandedness of the police for not allowing them to go inside and tell the leaders about their woes.
While talking to media, Pervaiz Chandio said that on January 17, 2018, his father and two brothers, Karamullah Chandio, Qabil Chandio and Mukhtiar Chandio, were killed in front of DSP office and in between two police stations in Mehar during day time and Sardar Chandio, Burhan Chandio and others are involved in their murder.
He said had Shaheed Benazir Bhutto been alive today, she would have never allowed a killer to contest elections via her party’s platform. Chandio demanded that the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari must not give ticket to the killer who, he feared, if won will kill more people while sitting in the corridors.
Media coordinator of Faryal Talpur, Ghulam Mustafa Leghari, came out and held talks with the demonstrators and took four protesters inside for meeting with Bilawal and Faryal Talpur.
Sardar Khan Chandio said that protesters do not belong to my constituency and he does not know why they are carrying out a media trial. He said that the case is under trial in the court and police have absolved them of all charges.
Despite availability of Bilawal and Faryal Talpur, nobody met the protesters and they were asked by party activist Aijaz Leghari that after three days, they will be called to Bilawal House Karachi for meeting with the party chief.
